Pat and Vicki Vasarelli have grown grapes on their McLaren Vale home block for more than 40 years. Their mature vines produce wines with greater complexity and, more importantly, length. This is pure McLaren Vale: all luscious plums and dark chocolate with a smooth finish. The oak has begun to integrate nicely since Winestate magazine wrote in their JulyAugust 2010 issue: Big, simple and wellbalanced wine, with the fruit dominated by the oak for now.
Ripe blackberries, plums and other dark fruits are combined with spicy nutmeg and chocolate notes. The tannin structure is fine grained yet firm, and provides the length and additional depth of flavour to complete this wine. It is a wine that will certainly reward careful cellaring.
